A Long Way From Home
view previous / next video

The existential character of these lyrics, which I discovered later after repeated listening, surprise me, and I wonder if I could do as well with my advanced degree in philosophy. Recorded at the Oregon Coast in the Summer of 05 with the help of Motomi and my dear friend Marc Baber.

I...
go in the
lost forest,
away from my city,
setting into the dark,

In the trees,
when we go.

I hear a lot of strange voices
down the city of song.

I've been
sitting in the forest,
and I'm a lonely way from home.

I was in the desert,
when I go alone.

And my day
is coming down
to the cities
run around.

The sun was coming down.

I came out of the forest,
but I still didn't know
which way to go.

I was looking at the left,
and the right,
and the front,
and the back.
But I didn't,
I got confused,

Exactly what was the back,
but I didn't go to the back,
I went to the front,
that was not the front,
no, that was the side,

I didn't know,

I thought everything
was gone ...
lost.

And my days
were coming,
down to the
cities' gone worlds,
and my loss,
and my dreams were down,
the cities were gone,

I'm just in the desert,
waiting for my times.

I hear a noise
from a mile away

Then I was just a lost cowboy
away from my home,

And I saw the way
on the ocean,
down to the cities,

And I want to,
live in the country,
and I am just a long way
from home.

And all the cowboys,
a long way from home,

and my ...

I was in the desert,
and night and day.

I was in the sun,
day and night.

I'm on the road

And we just go,

I hear many voices

far away,
from home
